CSK could turn the Struggle into 6th time Champions in the IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings has been one of the most dominant teams in the IPL tournaments. But last year in IPL 2024, the ship had a change in the captainship. A young, dynamic, and calm personality in Ruturaj Gaikwad took over the reign. Last season they could not cross the mark to qualify for the playoffs but this time the auction had an impression of how the team wanted to move ahead in the future. They banked heavily on some players and saw a few homecomings as well.
In the IPL 2025, CSK lost 2 of their games and won just 1 but have enough time to roar again in this long tournament, they will have to fix just a couple of things. Bowling looks pretty much sorted but the batsmen need to set up on every occasion.
Why CSK could easily Bounce Back in IPL 2025?
Strong and Settled Top Order
CSK is known for its top-order batting. It helps them excel in home conditions and create a major impact in the tournament and away matches. CSK has a history of great and legendary overseas openers. Following that this time, they have got the Kiwis duo of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra in their setup. Along with the captain, Ruturaj and Rahul Tripathi, all can provide a great start for the middle order to cash in. This time over Rahane, CSK has banked on Rahul Tripathi. They have Shaik Rasheed and Andre Siddarth, two fantastic youngsters, as backups to these players. CSK somehow has to fit Conway in their setup, to get their winning momentum.
Abundance and Sorted Middle Order
CSK has strengthened its middle order after the miserable 2020. Since then, they have been on the rise, except for the 2022 season. This year is indifferent to what CSK is known for. The middle order consists of the attacking Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, and Dhoni. They have a proven track record and it is focused more on countering the spin. The hard-hitting ability of Dube against spin can force the opposition to change the game plan. After him, then comes the likes of Jadeja, and Dhoni slightly down the order but effective as well.
Sorted and Much Better All-rounders
CSK likes to have multi-use players in their setup. Their squad looks much more stable this season. Jadeja and the homecoming Sam will be taking charge of the all-rounder category. The batting form still would be in question at least for Sam Curran. His batting has kept him out of the English setup as well, although CSK is known as the reviving the careers. Jaddu will play freely without any baggage of proving his selection in the team and justifying his place. He had a great run with the franchise.
Experienced and Lethal Bowling Lineup
The management did a fantastic job of picking horses for the courses. This bowling unit looks much more settled than last year. They have invested a lot in the youngsters and a few experienced overseas players. Pathirana will lead the fast-bowling unit, along with the left-arm pacer Khallel Ahmed who has been pretty much effective in the powerplay overs. In the mix, they have also backed Mukesh Kumar, also invested in brilliant young guns Anshul Kamboj, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Also adding the overseas experience of Nathan Ellis and Jamie Overton.
Along with the pace attack, the spin quartet is superior to any other team. This department will see the likes of Ashwin, Jadeja, Noor, and Shreyas Gopal. The variety of spinners will be tough for the opposition to target. They all have done incredibly well in the IPL 2025 Auction and can wreak havoc at Chepauk on their day.
Concerns for Chennai Super Kings
The bowling is pretty much sorted and covers all the possible bases with a wide range of variety but they have to come up with the batting more effectively. Apart from Rachin and Ruturaj, looks like other batsmen are not reading the pitch well but in a couple of games if this gets fixed there’s no one stopping them to clinch the 6th title.
