DAY 1: IND vs AUS 2nd Test BGT 2024 Complete Analysis and Match Summary

The Adelaide test started on a hot note. Having lost their first test, the host had a point to prove and executed their plans brilliantly. India made three changes in their squad: Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin in place of Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, and Washington Sundar. Electing to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal, scored a brilliant 150 knock in the first test, but this time Starc got him on the first ball of the innings. But KL Rahul and Shubman Gill stitched a 69-run partnership before Starc got into action again.

IND vs AUS 2nd Test BGT 2024: One more poor batting display by India in the 1st innings

Today, KL Rahul who came up with a lot of luck was later removed by Starc. After that big names such as Virat, and Rohit were dismissed in single-digit scores. Later, Gill, Pant, and Ashwin who looked a bit settled were also dismissed with decent contributions.

Starc was in no mood to spare the Indian batters. He also registered his career-best bowling figure of 6/48 in a test inning.

It was Nitish Reddy from India, after surviving an LBW on 0, Reddy made the Aussies pay for not reviewing an LBW call. He took on the bowlers and scored 42 off 54 deliveries. He looked calm and composed at the crease and played some magnificent shots. India got bundled out for just 186 runs, Reddy was again the top-scorer of the first innings. Boland and Cummins supported Starc very well by picking 2 wickets each.

IND vs AUS 2nd Test BGT 2024: Australia is in the driver’s seat

Australia started positively and negated any initial threats. Khwaja and McSweeney handled Bumrah and Siraj pretty well before Khwaja edged one to the slip cordon. McSweeney managed to survive the entire innings with a lifeline by Rishabh Pant. Bumrah was again sensational throughout his spell and caused trouble to the batters. But Labuschagne and McSweeney didn’t fall for any trap and ended the day with just 1 wicket down for 86 runs.

Both the Aussies took their time to settle and looked confident in the last hour of the day. There were some spicy moments too during the play when Siraj frustratedly threw the ball towards the Labuschagne and exchanged some words. At the end of the day’s play, Australia was 86 for 1 with Labuschagne remaining not out on 20 off 67 deliveries and McSweeney on 38 off 97.
