During the retentions Punjab Kings did not retain Arshdeep Singh, but on Day 1 of the IPL 2025 Auction, they used RTM on him, which was highly expected by everyone. Arshdeep was sold to SRH at INR 15.75 Crores, but Punjab used the RTM and dragged the price to INR 18 Crores, making Arshdeep Singh the most expensive Indian bowler to be sold in the history of the IPL Auctions.

After that, they went strongly behind Shreyas Iyer and spent INR 26.75 Crores on the IPL 2024 winning captain. Shreyas Iyer will most likely be the Punjab Kings skipper but not officially announced yet.

Punjab Kings set another record by purchasing Yuzvendra Chahal for INR 18 Crores which made him the most expensive Indian spinner and the joint most expensive Indian bowler along with Arshdeep to be sold in the history of the IPL Auctions. Punjab further focused on acquiring the services of Australians such as Stoinis, and Maxwell. Day 1 was very happening for the Punjab franchise and they also included many prominent uncapped players.
