Possible IPL 2025 CSK Retained Players List
5-times IPL winner, and one of the most dominant teams of IPL, Chennai Super Kings is one of the favourites to win IPL every year. The consistency shown by the team has a lot of backing from the captain and team management. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK finished 5th on the point table in the IPL 2024.
However, there were some great moments and a glimpse of what the team could be in the next 5-10 years. The emergence of some youngsters ensured the next decade’s core for CSK. Unfortunately, as not all players can be retained in the auction, CSK will have to let go of many of their match winners.
If CSK retains these below-mentioned players they will go with INR 73 Crore purse value in the upcoming IPL 2025 Auction.
Let’s look at the Possible IPL 2025 CSK Retained Players List:
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad who received leadership responsibilities after MS Dhoni just before IPL 2024, has also been one of the most successful openers for CSK. Bought at a base price of INR 20 lakh in IPL 2020, Ruturaj has established himself as one of the finest batsmen in IPL since his debut.
The backbone of CSK’s batting line-up has now been given leadership responsibility, so he automatically becomes the first retention at the price of INR 18 Crore. As a leader, Ruturaj did nothing wrong in his first stint as a captain in IPL 2024. He is very fortunate to get an opportunity to play alongside MS Dhoni and inculcate some of his leadership qualities. He is rated highly in the domestic circuit and by many former cricketers, Ruturaj’s batting and captaincy will be put to the test again. Hopefully, he will turn the table around in the coming IPL seasons.
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja needs no introduction. A versatile all-rounder, and one of the greats of the game. Bought in 2012 by CSK, Jadeja has been with CSK since then. The management and the trust of the captain helped him to evolve as a player and turn into a match-winner for the team.
Jadeja has also played a big role as an all-rounder in CSK’s success. His match-winning knocks towards the end of the innings have always been proven game changer for CSK. Also with the ball, he has bowled pretty good spells.
Additionally, a fielder of Jadeja’s quality is a dream for many teams. His ability to pounce on the ball quickly and change the game through his fielding makes him a dangerous player on the field. Having retired from the T20 international, Jadeja will play with more freedom in the coming season. CSK would love to retain Jadeja for his services at INR 14 Crore.
Shivam Dube
A destructive middle-order batsman and six-hitting machine, Dube’s rise has been phenomenal ever since joining CSK. The clarity of roles has been fruitful to him and the franchise as well. Dube’s ability to take down the bowlers, especially the spinners, makes him one of the most fearsome batsmen in the middle overs. His six-hitting ability in the middle overs makes him one of the most sought players. There are a few players in the Indian set-up who can clear the boundary with ease and Dube is one of them.
Picked by CSK in IPL 2022 at INR 4 Crore, Dube has scored 1103 runs at a strike rate of 159.16 in 3 seasons for them. The management will likely retain him at INR 11 Crore and get the core sorted. Dube has been used as a proper batsman in the CSK and has hardly bowled, but he can also be used as a part-time bowler when needed.
MS Dhoni
A legendary figure in the cricketing world and one of the most loved, and followed personalities. Dhoni needs no introduction and has achieved everything in a cricketing career that there’s to achieve. 5-times IPL winner, 2-times CLT winner, 50-overs ODI WC winner, T20 WC winner, Champions Trophy winner that too as a leader.
One of the greatest finishers in white ball cricket and perhaps the greatest wicket-keeper batsman, Dhoni’s ability to finish the game is unmatched. His skills behind the wicket are far superior to any other wicket-keeper. His lightning-fast hand and glove work behind the stump can change the game at any point.
If MS Dhoni decides to play the season, there’s no doubt the management will let him go. Dhoni is likely to be retained as an uncapped player at INR 4 Crore. Dhoni would want to leave the ground on a high note with the IPL trophy and will likely play his last IPL season next year. The management and the players would give their best to make his final season a memorable one and give a grand farewell with the IPL trophy in his hand.
Matheesha Pathirana
One of the most dangerous bowlers in the CSK squad, Pathirana is most likely to be retained using an RTM card. His ability to bowl at the death overs and toe-crushing yorkers make him one of the exciting prospects for CSK. Having gained the trust of the captain and management, Pathirana is most likely to stay in CSK for the next few seasons.
With age in his favor, Pathirana is going to be the captain’s go-to bowler at crucial junctures. His unorthodox action combined with sheer pace makes him one of the most difficult bowlers to pick. Rated highly by Malinga and other cricket legends, Pathirana is most likely to bleed yellow for a long time.
The management will try to retain many of the key players to keep their core safe and pick the right players for the different roles. Known to pick horses for courses, CSK management will wisely use their purse and build a team that could serve them at least for the next decade, something that they did in 2008.
