Possible IPL 2025 Gujarat Titans Retained Players List
Gujarat Titans became the first team to become Champions in their debut IPL 2022 season. Captained then by Hardik Pandya, Gujarat built an underrated team that no one would have expected for two remarkable seasons. Champions in IPL 2022, and runners-up in IPL 2023, GT had a phenomenal run in two seasons. However, they failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last IPL 2024 season.
The management will be looking for a good auction to make every bid count and target those players who can do the job as per their requirements. Since Hardik Pandya moved back to Mumbai Indians, Gujarat chose their new captain in the form of Shubman Gill and will also use their retention wisely. Along with their newly appointed captain, Gujarat will hope for a miraculous comeback and prove their worth again.
Gujarat will go into the IPL 2025 Auction with a heavy purse of INR 73 Crore after retaining these mentioned players and will bid big for some players and also try to retain their core team.
Let’s look at the Possible IPL 2025 Gujarat Titans Retained Players List:
Rashid Khan
One of the best leg-spinners in limited overs of cricket. Rashid’s skills are not hidden from anyone and he has repeatedly proved his skills on the big stage. Rashid Khan came to the limelight during his stint with SRH, where he excelled as a bowler, and after joining Gujarat, he has also upskilled himself as a finisher with the bat.
Gujarat will most likely pick Rashid Khan as their first retention for INR 18 Crore. With the ball and bat, Rashid’s ability to finish the match makes him one of the most lethal players in the games. At a very early stage of his cricketing career, Rashid troubled numerous batsmen with his bowling. His quick arm makes him difficult to pick thus making him an economical, and wicket-taking bowler.
Rashid Khan has enough experience and great leadership qualities that will also help the franchise during tough on-field decisions. Earlier, Rashid Khan asked SRH for the first retention or put him in the auction, so Gujarat used that opportunity very well and drafted
Shubman Gill
The young Indian superstar, and one of the finest white-ball cricketers. Shubman Gill has been one of the vital members of the teams he has played for. His risk-free approach along with his clean striking ability makes him an exciting candidate. Hailed as the rightful successor to Virat Kohli, Gill’s timing and temperament make him an ideal candidate for retention.
Shubman Gill’s ability to change the momentum at any point of the game makes him a terrific player. His consistency and hunger to score big runs show his passion for the game.
The sudden exit of Hardik Pandya has allowed Gujarat to prepare Shubman Gill as a leader and icon of their franchise. Most likely, Gujarat will be retaining Gill for INR 14 Crore. Hardik missed the chance but Gill has a great opportunity with Gujarat Titans to set his legacy similar to Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni in the books of IPL.
David Miller
Widely famous as ‘Killer Miller’ for his match-winning innings, David Miller is one of the regular members of the teams he plays for. Known for his six-hitting ability, and finishing the innings, David Miller has proven his skills whenever needed. One of the few players who have played for more than a decade in both international and IPL circuits, Miller is highly respected by the players.
His ability to win matches on his will and take down the bowlers in a crunch situation makes him an ideal candidate for the third retention spot. Miller did a good job for Kings XI Punjab (known as Punjab Kings). He had a couple of moderate IPL seasons before joining Gujarat Titans, but the clarity of roles by the management turned him into a beast in recent times.
His experience of international cricket and exposure to other league cricket makes him one of the most demanding players in the IPL. Gujarat Titans would like to have his service and retain him at INR 11 Crore.
Rahul Tewatia
An underrated all-rounder and a hard-hitting batsman, Tewatia has all the skills and reasons to cement his place as an uncapped retention. Tewatia, in his stint in the IPL, has played some of the memorable knocks and finished games that almost looked impossible at the time.
Having played for 4 franchises, Tewatia has finally found the right role and a suitable batting position while playing for Gujarat. Everyone remembers Tewatia’s innings for Rajasthan when he clutched against Punjab by hitting Cottrell for 5 sixes in an over. There are many such instances where Tewatia has done wonders for the team. Gujarat will surely retain him as an uncapped player for INR 4 Crore.
Players who could be Picked through RTM by Gujarat Titans management for IPL 2025:
The other two players that GT could retain using RTM cards are Sai Sudarshan and Mohammad Shami. Sai proved his selection in the team and his knock in the 2023 final can’t be erased from the memory of the fans. Sai can solve the opening problems for GT. Sai and Gill, the two youngsters will surely take the team forward in the right direction. Rated highly by the cricket experts, Sai will look forward to having a dominating season in the coming IPL and establishing a name for himself.
Mohammad Shami is another player whom Gujarat will retain using RTM. An Indian fast bowler, Shami has gained the reputation of picking wickets whenever needed. His magical spells during powerplay overs set him apart from others and he is most likely to get retained at a good price. Mohammed Shami had a tremendous 2023 ODI World Cup where he outplayed every single batsman and was probably the best Indian bowler in the tournament. Shami has equally done well for GT in a short stint and will surely have the management’s backing.
This will help them get the right players for the particular role. They can easily target some big players at a heavy price and give headaches to the other team’s management. It would be interesting to see how the GT management goes ahead with such a big purse in their bag.
