Possible IPL 2025 Sunrisers Hyderabad Retained Players List
Champions of the 2016 IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad played exceptionally well in the IPL 2024 season. Many records were shattered and many were at the risk of getting broken. SRH dominated the season, not only to lose to KKR in the finals but also 2 times including the Qualifier 1 and a league stage match. They had a fiery batting line-up and tremendous bowling attack to win them the games. After a lackluster few seasons, SRH bought some good players in the auction and was considered one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Captained by Cummins, a World Cup-winning captain, SRH outplayed many teams in the IPL 2024. Finding new openers was the key point for SRH. Head and Abhishek lit up the IPL through their explosive approach. They also found different players to suit their needs. However, SRH will unfortunately have to let go of some key players.
Rajasthan will go into the IPL 2025 Auction with a decent purse value of INR 59 Crore after retaining these mentioned players.
Let’s look at the Possible IPL 2025 Sunrisers Hyderabad Retained Players List:
Pat Cummins
The 2023 ODI World Cup winning captain, a WTC 2023 Final winning captain, and one of the finest in terms of reading the game. Pat Cummins has been phenomenal in the last 2-3 years by adapting accordingly across the 3 formats. SRH went full attack to have Cummins in their team and successfully bought him for INR 20.50 Crore. The purse could have caused anyone the extra added pressure to perform. But it surely didn’t affect Cummins.
He led the team to the final after the wait of 8 years. Sorting the fallacies of SRH, Pat Cummins gave a free hand to the players to go and play their game with no fear of failure. This was reflected in the way the team performed and the captain led from the front at many crucial junctures.
SRH won’t mind paying him a hefty sum of INR 18 Crore to get his service for the next couple of years to carry on the particular mindset and plans. And as a bowler as well, his ability to read the pitch and game makes him a phenomenal captain. SRH definitely won’t let go of such an amazing player in the world of cricket right now.
Heinrich Klaasen
A destructive middle-order batsman from South Africa, Heinrich Klaasen has surely impacted world cricket through his batting and hard-hitting ability. His six-hitting ability in the middle and death over makes him one of the most terrifying batsmen to bowl to. Klaasen has been a part of SRH for two years now and has done a tremendous job for them.
In the T20 World Cup final, Klaasen almost won South Africa the trophy through his batting. Unfortunately, South Africa lost the momentum in the match once he got out. In the two seasons for SRH, Klaasen has scored 927 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 173.92 and he has also averaged 44.14 which also describes his consistency of the destruction done by him.
Additionally, Heinrich Klaasen is also a wicket-keeper and has done tremendous work behind the stump. It is rare to find a middle-order player of such quality in the world of cricket right now and SRH won’t mind paying him INR 14 Crore to have him for a few more years in the team and win more matches and hopefully a trophy as well.
Nitish Reddy
Possibly the third retention for SRH for INR 11 Crore. A young fast-bowling Indian all-rounder, and a clean striker of the ball. Nitish Reddy showed his skills in the IPL 2024 and impressed many with his batting. His ability to perform in the pressure situation and win the game makes him an exciting prospect for SRH.
In the recently concluded Bangladesh T20 series, Reddy showed his ability and almost secured his place in the SRH team for the next few years. Players like Nitish Reddy and Hardik Pandya are hard to find in Indian cricket. So if he goes into the auction, he will likely get stolen by a rival franchise.
SRH wouldn’t want to make a blunder by letting him go. With age on his side, Nitish can do wonders for the team in the future. Any team will want an all-rounder Nitish Reddy who can bat aggressively and bowl whenever required.
Travis Head
Hard-hitting opener, and a part-time bowler, Travis Head did nothing wrong last season and is a guaranteed fourth retention for SRH at INR 18 Crore. Since the time Head started batting aggressively, he has been unstoppable. Especially in the white ball cricket, he is one of the best in the business right now. His ability to put the bowlers under pressure makes him one of the most fearless batsmen right now.
His match-winning century under pressure in the World Cup 2023 earned him the SRH jersey. He repaid the trust of the SRH management by scoring more than 550 runs at a staggering strike rate of almost 200. Travis Head justified his price tag of INR 6.80 Crore and along with Abhishek Sharma formed a destructive opening partnership. One of their remarkable partnership was against LSG when they both went bonkers and chased down the target of 166 in just 9.4 overs.
SRH will surely retain the Aussie in-form batsman and hope for many such destructive performances in the coming seasons. Head, as an opener, can allow other players to take a couple of overs to settle down and quickly take the game away from the opposition.
Players who could be Picked through RTM by Sunrisers Hyderabad management for IPL 2025:
Abhishek Sharma
The other retention could be Abhishek Sharma who was phenomenal in the last season. His pairing with Head bore fruits to SRH. The duo instilled fear inside the hearts of the bowlers and played many match-winning knocks. Guided by Yuvraj Singh, the former swagger Indian player, Abhishek Sharma did exactly what Yuvraj used to do in his prime. He was toying with the bowlers and punishing them from ball one. Abhishek’s strength is to go berserk against the spinners and hit sixes at will.
SRH won’t think of separating the pair of Head and Abhishek. They will have him back in the team using the RTM card and hope for many more great performances and memories in the next and coming seasons.
T Natarajan
The other possible retention could be Thangarasu Natarajan. Natarajan has been part of SRH for 7 long years and has given many match-winning performances through his bowling. He has picked 65 wickets for SRH. The best bowling performance was in the IPL 2024 where he picked 19 wickets for SRH and played an important role in taking the team to the final.
Natarajan will be on the radar of SRH management as Indian fast-bowling retention. The management could get him back through an RTM card. Natarajan’s ability to bowl in the death over and pick wickets will be in the minds of the franchise and they would love to have his service for the next few years to win the trophy.
The SRH management will be strategically using their purse to retain the players through RTM and purchase some new ones. They will target the players who would turn out to be horses for the courses and have a defining season again next year. Having a sorted core will lessen the pressure of unnecessary buying and that will play a major role in their successful battle at the auction table.
