Uncapped Indian Batsmen to Draw Big Purse in the IPL 2025 Auction
The sky of the Indian domestic circuit is filled with many glittering stars waiting for an opportunity to show their shine. The batsmen will be hoping for a chance to show the skills they possess. Over the years, many domestic players have gone on to make a mark in the IPL and international cricket, including Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank Agarwal, and Abhishek Sharma to name a few.
The coming IPL 2025 Auction will be an important one for many players. Some will have gold on their plate whereas others will wait for the next opportunity. The franchises will be looking to make some incredible purchases and have a blasting season.
Let’s look at the uncapped batsmen who are likely to attract big bids in the IPL 2025 Auction:
Shashank Singh
Perhaps one of those uncapped batters who will have an eventful auction. Earlier, it was expected that Punjab Kings would retain him at INR 4 Crore. However, Shashank wished to go into the auction where it is likely that he might end up getting a bigger purse than the retention money.
A sweet-timer and one of the cleanest strikers of the ball, Shashank played a vital role in the Punjab Kings season last year. The 33-year-old has an excellent record at the domestic T20 circuit where he has scored 1078 at a strike rate of nearly 150. He has performed equally well in the IPL scoring 423 at a strike rate of 161.
The franchises are likely to go after this player and buy him a bigger purse. His purse of INR 4 Crore may eventually end up in a higher range. It won’t be a surprise if Punjab uses RTM to retain Shashank at a good price.
Ashutosh Sharma
Another player from Punjab Kings is likely to go into the auction after last season’s performance. Ashutosh and Shashank made a formidable pair last year bailing the team out of misery positions many times and providing great finishes to the team.
The hard-hitter from Railways has been sensational even in the domestic circuit. He has scored over 600 runs at a sensational strike rate of 187. His gameplan looks sorted whenever he bats. He played a vital role in the team’s success last year in the IPL and scored 189 runs at a strike rate of 167.
The 26-year-old is likely to go for a good amount and will be more than happy going into the auction. The franchises would love to have a dominating Indian middle-order batsman in their squad.
Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad, while playing for SRH, made headlines for his six-hitting ability. Known to hit big sixes, Abdul Samad has not been able to maximize his potential. However, he would be looking to have a good season this time and turn things in his favor.
The J&K batsman has played 83 T20 matches in the domestic circuit and scored over 1300 runs at a strike rate of nearly 150. Even in the IPL he has a staggering strike rate of nearly 150 and becomes an important player in the death over.
The franchises would be looking to have this 23-year-old in their squad and utilize the strength that he brings to the table. Abdul Samad is likely to have a good auction and would be more than happy to be in any of the squads.
Atharva Taide
An attacking opening batsman who has all the skills to be a successful opener in the concerned format. Picked by PBKS in the year 2022, Taide played 9 matches for them and scored about 250 runs at an excellent strike rate of about 150.
Atharva Taide is a promising top-order batsman and can be the missing piece for any team looking for a good opener. Taide has done equally well for his domestic team. Playing for Vidarbha, Taide has scored nearly 1300 runs in 46 matches at a strike rate of 140.
The scouts and franchises will surely be backing this talent and are likely to go for him at a higher price. A few franchises will surely love to have an attacking Indian opener on their side.
Abhishek Porel
Rated highly by Ricky Ponting, Porel did a fantastic job in the last season for Delhi Capitals. Abhishek Porel’s domestic T20 record has been incredible. Playing for Bengal, he has scored 621 runs with a strike rate of 150.
His ability to bail the team out of trouble and go all guns blazing at the end, or as the situation demands, makes him a phenomenal player. He is also an incredible wicketkeeper. For DC, Porel has scored 360 runs at a strike rate of around 150.
The teams will be looking for him, and he is likely to be sold at a decent price. His skills will pay off, and hopefully, we will see more of him in the future.
The mega-auction will be a big opportunity for the domestic players. The players will hope for their best and be ready for an exciting journey.
