Rohit Sharma No More as an Opener in the IND vs AUS 2nd Test Playing 11

India kicked off the series stylishly, handing Australia one of their worst defeats. The Indian team looked lethal in Perth and would like to continue the winning momentum. The absence of Rohit Sharma didn’t affect the team’s confidence, and they played fantastic on a pitch that was thought to favor the Australians.

The absence of Rohit Sharma gave another opportunity to KL Rahul which he grabbed with both hands. However, with Rohit Sharma coming back to the squad, Dhruv Jurel will have to make way for the captain, unfortunately. The team would think not to hamper the winning combination, especially the opening pair, and would continue with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. This came to the notice during the practice game against the Prime Minister’s XI he did not show any interest in replacing the ongoing openers, who did an excellent job in the 1st Test at Perth. He could easily attack the spinners and give a solid finish to the innings.

This means Rohit will move himself to the middle order, the position in which he made his debut in the team. Rohit’s shifting to the middle order also strengthens the team’s inexperienced batting line-up. Apart from Pant, hardly anyone has an ample match for their name. Rohit will provide stability to the middle order if the top 3 fail.

Rohit Sharma also has ample experience in 30 test matches as a non-opener, he has scored 1585 runs at an average of nearly 40, and specifically, he averages 54 at number 6. His highest score while batting at a non-opening position was 177, which speaks a lot of his caliber down the order as well. i

Possible Lineup For The IND vs AUS 2nd Test along with skipper Rohit Sharma

Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (Wk), Rohit Sharma (C), Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj.

This lineup sees deep batting and a lethal bowling attack. The pink-ball test will be an important one for both the team and India would love to capitalize on the opportunity. The second test match will also be an opportunity for Rohit and Gill to get the rhythm back for the rest of the series. Most probably, Washington Sundar will be again given the preference over the proven all-rounders Jadeja and Ashwin. The bowling, as usual, will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah and the trio will look forward to dismantling the Aussies again.

The second test at Adelaide will be a cracking one for both teams to gain the upper hand and go ahead with the winning momentum. Also, the WTC 2025 Final will be at stake whoever wins the 2nd test will hone its chance to play in the finals. Meanwhile, in the WTC 2023-2025 Points Table, India is on the 1st place and Australia slipped to third after South Africa’s win over Sri Lanka.
