Virat Kohli Breaks ODI Records Against Pakistan

When you’re considered the Greatest of All Time, or the GOAT, breaking records comes naturally. Among all the players we’ve seen in One Day International cricket, one man stands out. Virat Kohli, often referred to as “King Kohli,” has had some pretty impressive performances in ODIs throughout his career. They have led to more than a few achievements, and some of them no one has ever had except for Kohli. It’s time to see what made King Kohli’s ODI outings so extraordinary.

A Unique 13,000 ODI Runs

Not many players get to achieve this accomplishment at all. Scoring 13,000 ODI runs isn’t something you see every day. But there are levels to doing it.

Being the fastest to this number is one of the reasons Virat Kohli has the reputation that he has. But being the fastest isn’t where the GOAT stops impressing. In fact, Virat needed more than fifty fewer innings than the first person behind him. That shows the exceptional level this man has been playing at. Some of the best cricket betting sites couldn’t have predicted this.

After only 267 innings, Virat Kohli recorded his 47th ODI century. This only adds to the consistency of his career. And, with it, he stands in third place among players with the most 50+ scores in One Day Internationals, which is an accomplishment in itself. When it comes to having the most ODI centuries, Kohli is in spot number 2. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar leads this category with 49. But he retired from ODI cricket in 2012.

Virat Kohli’s Favourite Venue

Most players have a favorite venue. Some are preferred because of the city they are in, others because of the fans, and so on. Though we can’t be certain why, it’s evident that Virat Kohli‘s favorite venue to play in is Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. At least, that’s what the numbers say.

At this venue in ODIs, Kohli averages 128.20, which is a record in itself. This is the highest for any batter with nine or more innings played at a single venue in ODI history. Also, King Kohli has scored four successive centuries in this stadium. He also managed to do this in 2012 and twice in 2017 against Sri Lanka.

ODIs aren’t the only time Virat Kohli loves playing at this place. Even at T20I, in six matches, he averages 53.4, which is quite decent.

India’s Highest Partnership vs. Pakistan

India’s record of 233 runs (unbeaten) is breaking news in the cricket world. That’s the highest partnership for India vs. Pakistan in ODIs, and of course, they couldn’t have done it without the GOAT playing alongside KL Rahul. The previous record was set by Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Singh Sindu. In 1996, they recorded 231 runs.

On top of that, India had a total of 356 at the end of the game, which equals their highest total against Pakistan in this competition. Also, this stands in the ninth spot for the highest ever against Pakistan in men’s ODIs and in the number one spot for the highest at a neutral venue in ODIs against Pakistan.
