Asia Cup 2022: List of All the Individual Award Winners

Asia Cup 2022, ended with a lot of excitement including remarkable run chases and astonishing comebacks. When Afghanistan thrashed Sri Lanka in the 1st game of the tournament no one would have expected that Sri Lanka will bounce back so strongly and win the tournament by defeating the favorites India and Pakistan.

A lot of prize distribution was done during the closing ceremony of the final day of the Asia Cup 2022. Many players were awarded for their blistering performances in the final and in the entire tournament. Awards in the form of a monetary basis were given to the players to appreciate them.

Here’s the list of all the individual award winners of the Asia Cup 2022:

Highest Run-Scorer: 281 runs scored by Mohammad Rizwan from Pakistan with a Strike rate of 117.57 and averaged 56.20.

Highest Wicket-Taker: 11 wickets by Bhuvneshwar Kumar from India with an economy rate of 6.05, strike rate of 10.36, and average of 10.45.

Best Catch in the Final Match: $3,000 to Ashen Bandana from Srilanka, for dismissing Iftikhar Ahmed by grabbing a high catch at the deep square leg.

Player of the Final Match: $5,000 to Bhanuka Rajapaksha from Srilanka, for scoring 71 runs in 45 balls and helping his side to reach a total of 170 from 58-5 while batting first.

Player of the tournament: $15,000 to Wanindu Hasaranga from Srilanka, for taking a total of 9 wickets and scoring 66 runs in the 6 matches of the complete tournament. His special knock of 36 runs in 21 balls came at the crucial moment of the finals against Pakistan when Srilanka was in the 58-5 position.

Runner-up: $75,000 to Pakistan, who lost the final match against Srilanka.

Champions: $150,000 to Sri Lanka, who won their 6th Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan in the final with 23 runs. They lost only their 1st and only match of the tournament and after that, they won 5 back-to-back matches including the Asia Cup 2022 final. The award comes in during a great economical crisis for Srilanka, further highlighting how special their win was.
