IND vs BAN Cricket News: Players that Could be Rested in the T20I Series

India will face Bangladesh in 3 test-match series and 3 T20Is. The Bangladesh team looks pretty confident after their recent win against Pakistan in Pakistan. The team wants to carry the momentum forward and create a miracle in the series against India. On the other hand, India is looking forward to securing another home series win and getting over its recent whitewash in ODIs against Sri Lanka. The series will be exciting to watch given the two teams’ rivalries.

The teams for the test matches have been announced and the players would be looking to play some magnificent cricket in the whites. While the teams for the T20Is have not been declared yet, there have been lots of speculations around the internet. Let’s look at the speculations and the possible results of it:

Rest for Key Players in IND vs BAN T20I Series

As per the recent reports by PTI, there are going to be some surprises in store for the fans. PTI has reported that BCCI is planning to rest some key players during the T20Is to keep them match-fit against the New Zealand Test series and also keeping an eye on the BGT 2024, two of the most awaited series for Indian fans.

The first name that is likely to be rested is Shubman Gill. BCCI could rest Gill for the T20Is against Bangladesh. Gill was not selected in the 15-men squad for the recently concluded T20 World Cup held in the USA and WI. It will be interesting to see what BCCI does. Gill’s resting could also lead to some questions for sure. As known, Gill hasn’t been able to crack the T20I code. Although he has been magnificent in the IPL, his records in the T20 international circuit look contrasting. The break may give him confidence again.

With Rohit and Virat retired, the opening and number 3 slots are open and the young charismatic Gill is one of the contenders to make either of the spots his own. However, his absence will open the gates of possibilities for other players to make a mark. The first name in the list is Ruturaj Gaikwad who has done a good job in the chances given. He will be on the BCCI’s radar for the spots and will be looking forward to cementing his place in the team.

Two other names coming out are Bumrah and Siraj who are going to be rested for the Bangladesh T20I series. It is fair to rest the two of them to keep them fit for the major two series and Champions Trophy ahead. The workhorse of the Indian bowling line-up, Bumrah, and Siraj, have been playing for quite a long time and deserve a break to be in the right frame of mind. Their absence will surely be missed but it will be a chance for other bowlers to leave an impact. The possible names for the bowling attack would be Yash Dayal, Avesh Khan, and Harshit Rana. Harshit Rana could be a surprise entry into the team but his performances in the last IPL have surely put a good case of consideration. BCCI could also look at the returning Prasidh Krishna.

Another name in the consideration is Rishabh Pant. BCCI would reconsider their decision of resting Pant for the T20I series. Coming back after injury, Pant needs as much match practice. He is an ideal choice for wicket-keeper batsman and BCCI wouldn’t risk it. However, if BCCI decides to rest Pant, Ishan Kishan is likely to get an opportunity after getting sidelined by the BCCI. The opportunity will be massive for Ishan, and he would like to maximize it. His hard-hitting ability makes him one of the attacking batsmen in men’s cricket.

It will be interesting to see how BCCI goes about their decision. Whatever the squad is, the next few days are going to be an exciting one for the fans and selectors.
