Earlier last month, the central government had proposed Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate India’s 75 years of independence and had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to organize a cricket match between the Indian team and the rest of the World XI on August 22.
But due to ongoing international fixtures, the high-profile retired players were also busy with other work off the field so it was a little difficult to organize the match in the month of August.
