Virat Kohli, Bhuvi, Hasaranga, and other big movers in the ICC T20I Rankings after Asia Cup 2022

Asia Cup 2022 ended very well, especially for Sri Lanka who won the tournament with a convincing victory over Pakistan in the final. Sri Lanka was also undefeated in the Super 4 set and lost only 1 match out of the 6 games.

In the tournament, many players from different nations showed exceptional performances which were also reflected in the individual ICC T20I rankings.

Batsmen

Virat Kohli who is once again back to his dominating days ended the Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a 276 runs mark in 5 matches including his maiden T20I ton as well, earlier he was ranked 29th then he moved to the 15th spot.

KL Rahul who did not play a single T20I game before Asia Cup 2022 and after the IPL 2022 moved from the 30th to the 23rd spot. He scored 132 runs in the 5 matches.

Bhanuka Rajapaksha who rescued his side in the finals against Pakistan, when Sri Lanka was reduced to 58-5 played an important knock that helped Sri Lanka to register a target of 171. He was also awarded the player of the match in the final by playing a special knock of 71 in 45 balls. Overall he scored 196 runs in the 6 matches and moved from 68th to 34th spot in the T20I ranking.

Bowlers

Bhuvenshwar Kumar took 11 wickets in the 5 games. Also, he registered his T20I career-best bowling figures 4-1-5-4. He moved from the 11th spot to the 7th in the T20I bowlers ranking.

Wanindu Hasaranga won the player of the tournament award after his blistering performance by both bat and ball in the finals. In the final, he scored a quick 36 runs in 21 balls and took 3 wickets in a single over of a crunch situation. He moved from 9th to 6th in the latest T20I ranking.

Haris Rauf who moved from the 34th spot to the 25th spot after the Asia Cup 2022 campaign took 8 wickets in the 6 matches with an average of 19.12.

Mohammad Nawaz also took 8 wickets in the 6 games and moved from the 41st spot to the 34th rank in the latest ranking.

All-Rounders

Wanindu Hasaranga who showed his brilliant all-round performance in the final against Pakistan helped his side to clinch the Asia Cup title for the 6th time and moved from the 11th rank to the 4th rank in the latest T20I all-rounders ranking.

Shakib Al Hasan who was given the charge to lead his side showed a descent but a better performance in both the bat & ball departments than the earlier ranked 1 Mohammad Nabi. Thus, Shakib replaced him and is now the currently ranked 1 T20I all-rounder.
